Hi, my name is Emma Cartmell and I have been in the events industry for over ten years.  I used to run an agency in the North of England and around seven years ago we teamed up with Greyridge Software to develop a piece of software for our business that helped us to become more efficient.  Being a self confessed control freak, I like to know that our data is safe, accurate and that we’re not wasting time on tasks that can be automated.

The software turned out to be a big win for us in two ways.  Firstly, our customers really liked the software.  They liked the fact that all their data was safe and secure (rather than relying on excel spreadsheets, or email bookings) and that their delegates received a great level of customer service because their confirmation emails, invoices etc were always accurate and sent to them speedily.  We won lots of contracts on the back of having the software which helped to boost our business.

The second win though, was a major breakthrough.  By automating all our processes we saved tons of time on admin tasks.  We estimated that this time saving resulted in a cost saving of at least £20,000 per annum.  We worked this out because it would have taken at least one administrator to complete all the work manually.  When you add up this person’s salary, holidays, potential sick pay, NI, office space, additional HR costs etc, this would have easily been in excess of £20,000.

Seven years on, and my main focus is to share this software with other event planners, whether they work in an agency or within a corporation/organisation.  Greyridge have developed the software further and turned it into a SAAS Model (software as a service).  This means that you don’t need to invest the tens of thousands of pounds that I did to develop your own software.  You don’t even need to invest a few thousand pounds in installing the software on your own PC’s.  The SAAS model means that you can use the software on a ‘pay as you go’ basis for a fraction of what I invested seven years ago.

I’ve still got over ten years of event experience under my belt.  So if you are investigating how our online registration service can help you, do get in touch.  I’m always happy to take event planners through a strategic review of their delegate registration process and hear about what challenges they are facing.  In the meantime, why not take a look at some of our blogs or download our free e-book, 10 mistakes event planners make and how to avoid them.
